Ethiopia Remains Committed to Support CAF in Endeavors of Advancing African Football: President Taye

Addis Ababa, October 22/2024 (ENA) Ethiopia's President Taye Atske Selassie expressed the government's strong support for the crucial role of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in advancing the continent's aspirations.

Speaking at the 46th Ordinary General Assembly of CAF, the President emphasized that football is central to Africa's identity and heritage.


 

He noted that in today's world, sports serve as a cornerstone for uniting the continent, transcending boundaries and differences.

This vision aligns with the African Union's Agenda 2063, which seeks a unified Africa with a robust cultural identity and shared values.

President Taye reaffirmed Ethiopia's commitment to fostering a legacy that honors the past while paving the way for future successes.

He also referenced FIFA President Gianni Infantino's emphasis on the importance of nurturing young talent and leveraging Africa's collective strengths to elevate the sport on the global stage.

Patrice Motsepe, President of CAF, expressed gratitude for Ethiopia's role in hosting the assembly.


 

He emphasized that football's success in Africa is tied to the achievements of all 54 countries.

The president expressed pride in witnessing the passion and dedication of African nations for sport during his visits at various times.
