Abune Mathias Urges All to Discharge Duties in Promoting Peace, Dev’t in Unison

Addis Ababa, January 19, 2025 (ENA)— The Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, Abune Mathias, called upon everyone to fulfill their duties in promoting peace and development by uniting in love and solidarity.

Ethiopian Epiphany (Timket) has been celebrated colorfully today at Jan Meda in the capital Addis Ababa in the presence of religious leaders, foreign visitors, and the faithful.   

On the occasion, His Holiness Abune Mathias conveyed his best wishes to all those observing Epiphany, a celebration that commemorates the baptism of Jesus Christ by John the Baptist in the River Jordan.

 

The Patriarch underlined that humanity can attain eternal life only through devotion to God. Everyone should stop and think about peace, he urged.

Everyone must unite in love and solidarity, fulfilling their obligations towards the peace and progress of the nation.

Human beings should utilize the blessings bestowed by God to address the obstacles that impede peace and development, fostering a spirit of mutual care and collaboration.
